A permanent orienteering course gives a facility that is always available, with fixed marker posts.
The Trail O course at Lower Strinesdale was set up by the Greater Manchester Orienteering Association in partnership with North West Water and the Oldham Education and Leisure and Countryside Services. My thanks goes to all concerned in allowing the following information to be used as an example.
It is used regularly by many schools providing an outdoor
activity accessible to pupils of all physical abilities.

Users of the course are given instructions, and a map.
Permanent Trail O courses, like others, need careful planning and mapping
This example shows how varying the viewing position allows the same permanent set of marker posts to be reused giving different answers.
